Seven Signs the Micro-management Virus Has Attacked
Micro-management is a leadership style created when someone closely watches over another person’s completion of a task. There may be a variety of reasons for micro-management, such as with the feeling that an employee is not really competent to do the task correctly. It could occur when your superior is attempting to make life miserable so that you will want to leave.
What are the Seven Signs that the “M&M” Virus is Attacking You?
Sign #1 - Each time you see your boss or supervisor coming in your direction, you ask yourself “Now what have I done?”
Sign#2 - You dread getting a telephone call from a particular person whether it be you boss or not, because you just know it will be bad news.
Sign #3 - You are getting to work later each day.
Sign #4 - There are more days that you would rather stay home.
Sign #5 - You have made a decision and someone does not like your decision so they go to your supervisor who overturns your decision without discussion.
Sign #6 - Your day is filled with researching and completing paper-work to justify the decisions made.
Sign #7-Last, but not least, you send people directly to your supervisor for making the decision rather than you making a decision only to and have it over-turned.
So what type of doctor do you go to inorder to get rid of this virus? None! It is called, playing with politics and you do not win. What are some of your options? (1) You could quit and making your life easier and allow the supervisor to win; (2) you could go to the boss or supervisor and discuss these issues hoping for a resolution to everyones’ liking; (3) You might try winning some allies from other employees or supervisors that agree with your point of view; (4) chances are you are not going to change the individual who is micro-managing.
